Hot off the press: The PRS Guitars S2 McCarty 594 is coming! The hugely popular model was until now only available in a Core or Private Stock configuration, but will join the lower priced S2 series in 2020. The S2 594 is equipped with the same features that made the original design so beloved, such as the 24,594” scale, 58/15 pickups with authentic single coil sounds and the pleasant vintage vibe with modern reliability. But for half the price! Crazy news. There will be three configurations on the market, the first two of which we already know from the Core series: the “standard” Double Cut and the Single Cut (€2125) with maple top. The third version is the all-new 594 Thinline ($1895), which gives a fresh twist to the 594 DNA with its thinner, all-mahogany body. We're getting them all in and can't wait! Vintage inspiration with the reliability of PRS: Single Cut and Double Cut.

At the heart of the McCarty 594 is a versatile, vintage-inspired instrument that delivers both fat humbucking sounds and true-to-life single-coil sounds. The 24,594" scale length, which is slightly shorter than usual on LP-inspired guitars, makes the guitar incredibly comfortable to play. The strings almost feel like butter! We've been able to feel and hear on the Core and Private Stock models what great sounds and great playability that delivers, and believe us: that is certainly the case with the new S2 versions.Best of all, PRS packages these features in a modern, reliable package so that you can play wherever, whenever also, you can take the stage with peace of mind without suffering from the annoying issues that some old guitars are known for, as befits Paul Reed Smith!

As mentioned earlier in this post, the S2 McCarty 594 is offered in three different models. Just like the Core version, the S2 594 Double Cut and S2 594 Single Cut variants are equipped with the Pattern Vintage neck profile and a maple top. Thanks to the slightly thicker body than usual for a PRS, the 594 has an incredible amount of sustain and a super thick tone. The S2 McCarty 594 therefore immediately feels like coming home, as if the guitar has been played in for years. Totally awesome! In terms of hardware, a Two-Piece Bridge has been chosen which is made of zinc, and Vintage Style, non-locking tuners. In this way, the S2 McCarty 594 stays true to its vintage spirit. As with the Core 594, the S2 McCarty 594 features the widely recognized - and acclaimed - 58/15 "S" pickups. In our humble opinion, these pickups are among the very best new pickups on the market today. These humbuckers deliver a warm yet defined, vintage-correct tone reminiscent of the golden era of the PAF pickup.

So whether you're looking for authentic humbucking sounds, or more nuanced, sugary-sweet single-coil sounds, the S2 McCarty 594 offers it all in an affordable, high-quality package. We are 100% convinced that the S2 McCarty 594 can be a great addition to any guitar arsenal, regardless of your playing style.

New: the McCarty 594 Thinline. Unique for the S2 line!

Where the 'standard' Double Cut and Single Cut 594 models in the S2 line take their inspiration from the existing Core 594, the S2 McCarty 594 Thinline offers a completely new twist. In contrast to the aforementioned models, this model is completely made of mahogany. So without a maple top. In addition, the Thinline has a thinner body than the other two models, and the guitar is equipped with the Pattern Thin neck profile, known from the Custom series. As a result, the Thinline really has its own voice and feel. Because of these features, the S2 McCarty 594 Thinline will lean a little more towards an SG than a Les Paul. Other than that, the specifications of this guitar are the same as the other models. Think of the 58/15 "S" pickups with split-coil functionality, 24,594" scale length, Vintage Style tuners and rosewood fingerboard. And of course this model is also overloaded with the vintage character that makes this model so popular. We can't wait for the first models arrive!
