Limited Edition Semi-Hollow Guitars by Paul Reed Smith
Now exclusively available at Dijkmans Muziek in Breda: the PRS Special 22 and McCarty 594 Semi-Hollow . Paul Reed Smith and his team developed these two models especially for the PRS Experience event. As always, the attention to detail on these instruments is again class-leading. Both models have a special mid-range character, have an unprecedented definition between the strings, and even on the very highest frets, these PRS guitars retain their sustain, output and intonation. And the ease of play is again finger licking good, as both necks play very comfortably, so you can effortlessly do your thing, and look for expression in your music without having to think about the action, adjustment or output of your guitar. In addition to the amazing looks and sounds, these guitars are also very exclusive, because they could only be ordered during - and a short period after this show. In addition to a number of pre-orders for customers, we managed to get hold of quite a few copies of these VERY limited models for the store. PRS Special 22 in different finishes
First of all we want to highlight the Paul Reed Smith Special 22 Semi-Hollow. Does the guitar remind you of anything? At first glance, this beautiful guitar looks very much like the John Mayer Super Eagle. But the guitar is so much more than a Core copy of this guitar. For the design of the Special 22, Paul and his team took the Custom 22 as a basis. In short: Mahogany (mahogany) body, beautiful Figured Maple top, a 25" neck and Gen III tremolo system. The next step in the recipe was to create a Semi-Hollow body, for extra depth and "air" in the tone of It was then decided to add an extra element in addition to the standard dual-humbucking configuration of the Custom 22. And this is where the guitar gets really interesting, because we find the hard-to-find Narrowfield mini-humbucker in the middle position. Together with the Split Coil switches for the two humbuckers, this gives you no less than 9 sounds! The guitar therefore seems to be the result of a happy marriage between the Custom 22 and 509. McCarty 594 Semi-Hollow
In addition to the Special 22, Paul Reed Smith has also made a Semi-Hollow version of the McCarty 594, which gives the guitar an even more luxurious look than it already had. As mentioned, the McCarty 594 served as the basis, and the SH version therefore has a lot in common with the original. Think of a beautiful Carved Figured Maple top, Mahogany body and of course the 24.594" scale. This was of course already a perfect recipe for "vintage mojo" mixed with modern playability and reliability. However, thanks to the Semi-Hollow body, this McCarty has again quite a unique character, because the guitar breathes like never before, notes sustain in an interesting way, and the guitar effortlessly goes from warm clean, to a BB King-like snap, and straight on to a nasty, fat Blues drive sound! And of course these guitars are wonderfully light, which makes playing on stage even more enjoyable.
