The tone of each instrument is at its core: in this case, Darkglass designed a new, modern 2-band EQ preamp specifically for the DarkRay. This preamp offers three modes with very different and useful sounds: Clean, Alpha (distortion) and Omega (fuzz). Both distortion circuits are fully mixable via a built-in gain knob and mix control that is manipulated to the user's preference. Amazingly clean, light gain or a brutal fuzz tone is available, all without low-end loss. A bright LED ring and the 3-way lever switch indicate which mode the bass is in. In any case, the all-new DarkRay is a Stingray Special with neodymium humbucking pickup, roasted maple neck, comfortably shaped body, 22 stainless steel frets and the well-known 3+1 headstock configuration.
