The Les Paul Standard 50s: Character Over Show
The Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s Plain Top Ebony is the Les Paul for the guitarist who prioritizes tone. No figured top, no distractions — just a sleek black finish that draws all attention to the sound. This is the 50s Standard in its most direct form.
Two Gibson Burstbucker 1 and 2 humbuckers reproduce the asymmetrical windings of the original late 1950s PAF pickups: a warm, slightly uneven tone with character and dynamics that respond to how hard you play. The 50s Rounded C mahogany neck feels familiar and full in the hand, while the rosewood fretboard with trapezoid inlays and a 12" radius plays comfortably from open chords to higher positions.
The body is constructed from mahogany with a plain maple top, a combination that delivers classic Les Paul warmth with a touch more clarity in the attack. The Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge and Grover Rotomatic tuners ensure stable intonation and tuning. The electronics are pure and uncomplicated: two volume and two tone pots and a three-way toggle switch, without push/pull or extra features. Comes with a hardshell case.
For those who want the Les Paul as it was intended — without compromise, without fuss.
