The Gibson Les Paul Special TV Yellow: proving that less hardware creates more character
The Les Paul Special is the no-frills Les Paul. No figured maple top, no ABR-1 bridge, no Trapezoid inlays. What remains is the rawest, most direct Les Paul variant Gibson makes, and in TV Yellow, that's evident. This almost fluorescent yellow color isn't subtle, and that perfectly suits a guitar that knows no bounds.
Two P90 pickups give the Special its unmistakable character. Raw single-coil clarity with the body and drive of a humbucker, a combination that has made the P90 one of the most beloved pickups in guitar history. Overdriven, the Special sounds aggressive and direct; clean, it has an openness and definition that other pickups can't achieve. This is the tone of early punk, garage rock, and Chicago blues all in one guitar.
The mahogany body without weight relief and the mahogany neck with a Vintage '50s profile give the Special its substantial, organic feel. The rosewood fretboard with simple Acrylic Dot inlays and 22 frets on a 24.75" scale is honest and functional. The wraparound bridge is the most direct system Gibson has ever used, and you can hear it: every string sounds precise and immediate. Includes Gibson hardcase.
The Les Paul Special TV Yellow is for those who want their guitar to stand out, sound great, and play well without a single superfluous component.
