The Gibson SG Standard Heritage Cherry: The Conscience of Rock for Decades
Angus Young, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Tony Iommi: they all chose the SG. And that's no coincidence. The Gibson SG Standard is thinner, lighter, and more aggressive than a Les Paul, with a biting tone and playability unmatched in the Gibson lineup. The classic Heritage Cherry finish and characteristic batwing pickguard make this one of the most recognizable guitar silhouettes in rock music history.
The 490R and 490T humbuckers give the SG its distinctive tone: warm enough for blues, sharp enough for hard rock, and dynamic enough for everything in between. They convincingly reproduce the P.A.F. character without the need for a vintage instrument. The thin mahogany body provides a lively, direct response that you simply won't find in thicker guitars.
The Slim Taper mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, Acrylic Trapezoid inlays, and 22 frets offers fast, comfortable playability. The 24.75" scale length provides the typical Gibson feel with slightly less string tension than a Fender. The Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge and Grover tuning machines ensure reliable intonation and tuning stability. Includes Gibson hardshell case.
Whether you're picking up an SG for the first time or have been a fan for years: the SG Standard Heritage Cherry is an instrument you'll never tire of.
