The Lakewood D-35 CP: a Dreadnought with Oak back and sides you won't find anywhere else
Lakewood has been making handmade guitars in Germany for decades, and the D-35 CP is one of their most distinctive models. The combination of an AAA European Spruce top with Style 35 Oak back and sides is rare — and that's precisely what makes this cutaway Dreadnought so special. Finished with snowflake mother of pearl inlays, Schaller M6 gold tuners, and an L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup. Includes Hiscox hardshell case.
Oak is a wood with a unique character: the low frequencies have a soft, fine compression that makes the guitar particularly dynamic. The AAA European Spruce top on a Scalloped X-Brace adds clarity and projection, while the Oak provides a warm, focused midrange that you don't hear in the same way with rosewood or mahogany. The L.R. Baggs Anthem accurately captures that character for amplified use.
The Mahogany neck with a C-shape profile and Ebony fretboard plays smoothly across 20 frets and a scale length of 25.6 inches. The set-neck construction contributes to excellent sustain and a seamless connection to the body. The Ebony bridge and Schaller M6 gold tuners complete an instrument that has been meticulously thought out down to the smallest detail.
The Lakewood D-35 CP is for the guitarist who consciously chooses something off the beaten path.
