The wartime J-45 reborn: Gibson 1942 Banner with Murphy Lab aging and thermally aged spruce top

The Gibson 1942 Banner J-45 Murphy Lab Light Aged Vintage Sunburst is a tribute to one of the most remarkable periods in Gibson's history. During World War II, Gibson produced guitars with a "Banner" on the headstock, a mark of quality that distinguishes the instruments from that period. The materials and construction methods of the time give the originals a unique character, and this reissue reproduces that down to the smallest detail.

The thermally aged Red Spruce top is the heart of this guitar. Thermal treatment simulates the natural aging of the wood over decades, resulting in a more open, responsive sound that new guitars cannot match. The mahogany back and sides give the guitar warmth and body, while the Murphy Lab Light Aged nitrocellulose lacquer in Vintage Sunburst completes the authentic look. The Historic neck shape and the aged strap-style tuners with open back and cream buttons are historically correct.

Specs: thermally aged Red Spruce top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck with Historic profile, rosewood fingerboard with Mother-of-pearl dot inlays, 20 frets, 24.75" scale, reverse rectangle rosewood bridge and T-bone nut. Delivered in a period correct case.

An acoustic guitar with the tone and character of 1942. That's exactly what this is.
