The Laney LA30BL is the legendary Supergroup amplifier in a manageable 30-watt version, making it one of the most surprisingly complete rock machines in its class. The design dates back to the late sixties, a time when guitarists played a tad louder than they do today, to say the least. If you listen to recordings from that era, you can’t deny the sound and power of this non-master volume cannon. Just look at the early Black Sabbath recordings; they are hard to ignore.

Because the LA30BL has no master volume, the amplifier has significantly less compression than many similar 30-watt amps. You notice this immediately in the playing experience: the tone is direct and open, with room for your playing dynamics. If you play subtly, the tone remains well-controlled; if you push harder, the LA30BL simply shouts back. In addition, you can connect the two separate inputs in series, so-called "jumpering," for an extra dose of gain. This allows the head to combine the character of a genuine rock monster with an excellent platform for your pedals.

The controls are familiarly simple, with dials for presence, bass, middle, treble, and gain, just like the original. The LA30BL is a 30-watt tube amplifier head with speaker outputs for 16, 8, and 4 ohms, meaning it works with virtually any cabinet, including the matching Laney LA212 speaker cabinet. With dimensions of 220 x 620 x 220 mm and a weight of 10.5 kg, the head remains compact enough to take to the rehearsal space.
