The Special 22 Semi-Hollow in Charcoal: three pickups, two chambers and one of the most versatile PRS guitars ever
The PRS Special 22 Semi-Hollow is the answer to the question of what happens when you give a Custom 22 a third pickup, coil-splitting on all humbuckers, and a hollow chamber. The answer: one of the most colorful guitars in the entire PRS range. In Charcoal, the flame maple top has ample room to shine, while the guitar itself sounds modest enough not to draw attention until you turn it on.
The configuration of two 58/15 MT humbuckers and a PRS Narrowfield in the middle is a conscious choice for maximum versatility. The humbuckers sound warm and full, while the Narrowfield, in the intermediate positions, provides a clear, Strat-like character that you would never get from a regular humbucker. The two coil split toggles allow you to split both humbuckers independently into single coil mode, vastly expanding the tonal palette. The semi-hollow construction adds a natural resonance and airiness that a solid body cannot achieve.
The mahogany body and neck with Pattern profile play fast and comfortably. The rosewood fretboard with 22 frets, 10" radius, 25" scale, and Bird Inlays is familiar PRS quality. The PRS Patented Tremolo and Phase III Locking Tuners ensure tuning stability with every use. At 3.35 kg, the guitar is light enough for long sets without losing its body's airiness.
The PRS Special 22 Semi-Hollow Charcoal comes with a hard case. Three pickups, endless sounds, one instrument.
